Primark is to begin trialling a Click & Collect service for its kids’ range later this year.
The announcement follows the launch of the fashion retailer’s new website in April and the stated intention to expand its kids’ range. The move is the discount fashion retailer’s first foray into online sales.
The trial will run across 25 stores in the northwest – offering up to 2000 kids’ range products including clothing, decorative nursery products, and toys.
Customers will have an expansive range of products; on average, twice as many as today, the company said.
Customers of the trial’s smaller stores will have access to ranges normally only found in larger stores, and around 40 per cent of items will be ‘online exclusive’.
Paul Marchant, Primark chief executive, said: “The Click & Collect trial is a milestone for our business and builds on the investments we’ve made over the last two years in new technology and people to make this possible.
“This trial will give customers so much more of what they love and a new way to shop with us. It brings together more choice and greater convenience and complements the great in-store experience that is at the heart of our business.”
All Click & Collect orders will be processed and shipped from a new distribution centre in Leicestershire which will be run by Primark’s logistics partner, Clipper.
